Job Description

The role of the Content Manager/Strategist is to build and manage a strategy and team (initially of freelancers) that delivers new and improved assets. These assets may include, but are not limited to social content, web pages, collateral, blog posts, video, podcasts, case studies and success stories, emails and more that drive traffic and/or spark customer interest. You will manage many projects on short timetables so need to be comfortable working in an environment that stresses deadlines as well as delivering content on budget. Much of the content will be tied to customer persona pain points as well as various stages of the buyer’s journey.

You should be able to shift easily from creating messaging for a business persona to an actual power user to an investor interested in the company from a performance perspective. The role formally reports to the CMO and informally to either Product Marketing and/or Digital/Web.

Requirements:

  • Highly organized, with strong attention to detail.
  • Insatiable curiosity, including an ability to gain expertise on new topics quickly and efficiently. • Ability to prioritize and collaborate, managing multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently. • Self-starter and independent thinker. • Creative and analytically-minded. • Strong communicator, with a highly articulate and firm understanding of the English language (spoken and written). • Ability to collaborate with technical experts and SMEs across the company and bring much of their expertise to life in various content forms • Demonstrate mastery of a compelling and sometimes witty writing style, captivating audiences as a means of increasing engagement. • Partner with our digital team team to ensure content delivers on best-in-class meta-titles, meta-descriptions, H1 titles, keywords, etc. • Learn new topics quickly, staying up-to-date on relevant content/trends for the industry • Experience with video content and podcasts a plus

Experience:

  • 7-10 years of journalism, brand, or story-telling experience, with 2+ in a leadership role.
  • Write efficiently and be comfortable in a player/coach role as you build a team.
  • Direct experience with SEO.
  • Experience in crafting and managing an ongoing strategy that maps content to usage cases and various stages of the buyer’s journey.
